Your task is to gather and organize data about a country around the world and analyze the current economic conditions in this country. Finally, you will write an "Economic Analysis Essay" about the current economic conditions in this country and recommend possible changes that would improve the economy and its standard of living. Follow the directions below:

  1. Select a country from the list provided above.
  2. Gather economic information about the country of your choice.
    • Use the Google Doc Spreadsheet to help you organize the information you collect. Click 'File' then 'Make a Copy' in order to create your own copy of the document. Give your document a specific name - 'John Doe's Economics Project'. Share your document with me -
  3. After you have gathered your data, analyze your data so that you have a strong understanding of the economic conditions in your country.
  4. Research the additional questions to gain a deeper understanding of your country.
  5. Construct your "Economic Analysis Essay". See instructions below.

Economic Analysis Essay:

Once you have gathered and analyzed your economic data and completed the additional research topics, you may begin writing your 'Economic Analysis Essay'. Write your essay using a new document in your Google Docs account.

Use the following format to structure your essay. Essay Format - Economic Analysis

Include the following in your essay:

  1. Introduction:
    • Introduce yourself and the work you have completed during this research project
    • How has this project changed your perspective on different country's standard of living?
    • Introduce the country that you researched, where it is located and its current population.
  2. Body:
    • Explain the brief history of your country
    • Explain your country's economic conditions including standard of living, level of development and economic freedom.
    • How does your country's economic conditions compare to the United States and other countries around the world?
    • Is your country more capitalist or less capitalist?
    • What economic problem/s is your country currently facing?
    • What solution/s can you suggest that would help your country raise its standard of living, welfare and quality of life for its citizens?
  3. Conclusion:
    • Conclude your analysis by summarizing your research, explaining what life would be like living in the country you researched, and what you have learned from this research project.
    • Provide an answer to the question, "why are some nation's wealthier than others?"
      • Explain the benefits of capitalism
